Lung diseases, such as asthma and COPD, affect tens of millions of people. As the nation’s leader in preventing and treating lung diseases, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is advancing research in many ways. Through studies, clinical trials, and education, NHLBI has made, and continues to make, significant progress in improving the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases.
