Mission accomplished, that building was restored and is now part of The Fort Smith Historic Site. The Fort Smith Museum of History is the city’s oldest museum, and research indicates, the oldest, continually operating museum in the state of Arkansas. Our mission means we house approximately 40,000 artifacts chronicling the city’s history, as well as care for the 1906 Atkinson-Williams Warehouse, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which houses the Museum.
