The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) is the nation's largest Sheriff's Department and second largest policing agency in the United States. The LASD's nearly 18,000 budgeted personnel include nearly 10,000 budgeted sworn sheriff's deputies and 8,000 professional staff (civilians).
