The institute of North American and European Studies was founded in 2004. Following its popularity among students, it became an independent faculty offering courses on more countries around the world. The Faculty of World Studies (FWS) of University of Tehran, was established in 2007 as the first academic institution in Iran dealing with the study of countries and regions across the world.
