Chagas disease, caused by the Trypanosoma cruzi parasite, poses a significant public health concern, particularly in regions where triatomine bugs, the primary vector of transmission, are prevalent. In the United States alone, an estimated 300,000 individuals are living with this parasitic infection, and more than 2,460 confirmed positive cases have been reported among blood donors. As the spread of T. cruzi continues to be a risk, early and accurate detection is crucial. Our Chagas (T. cruzi) qPCR assay offers a highly sensitive and reliable method for detecting T. cruzi DNA, supporting clinicians and blood centers in the identification of infected individuals and ensuring better patient care and public health safety.
