The cyberattack on the Bernese IT firm Xplain, which offers its services to numerous federal and cantonal government ministries, the army, customs, and the Federal Office of Authorities (Fedpol), was investigated by Swiss authorities. Threat actors have already made data from the Federal Office of Police (Fedpol) and the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS) purportedly stolen public on a Darknet forum. The company's systems were reportedly compromised by intruders, according to local media. Despite their attempts to minimise the incident, Fedpol and the federal customs office both confirmed the attack. The only anonymous, simulated data that threat actors had access to, according to Fedpol, was for testing. According to a Fedpol spokeswoman who also claimed that the agency's projects were not compromised, Xplain informed Fedpol about the incident a few days ago. Information from the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS) that was made public, according to the FOCBS, came from correspondence with its clients.
