Wolfe Clinic, P.C. suffered a third-party data breach incident after an unauthorized party accessed myCare Integrity, an electronic medical records platform provided by Eye Care Leaders, that uses data and deleted databases and system configuration files. Eye Care Leaders' incident response team immediately stopped the unauthorized access and began investigating the incident. However, the unauthorized access included the patient's name, address, date of birth, social security number, diagnostic information, and health insurance information.

Wolfe Eye Clinic in Iowa addressed an alleged attack for more than a month where the hackers were trying to access data on its systems. Eye Care Leaders' incident response team immediately stopped the unauthorized access and began investigating the incident. Some unauthorized threat actors known as Lorenz added the clinic to its relatively new dedicated leak site, the threat actors also seem to be offering to sell access to the clinic’s internal network.

The compromised data included patient names, mailing addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and protected medical records. While the breach exposed highly confidential information, the investigation did not uncover any evidence of identity theft or misuse of the stolen data at the time of reporting. The California Office of the Attorney General publicly disclosed the incident on June 29, 2021, highlighting the clinic’s failure to prevent unauthorized access to its systems. The breach raised concerns about patient privacy and the security of healthcare data, though no immediate financial or operational consequences were reported beyond the exposure itself.
