On February 24, 2015, Valley Community Healthcare experienced a data breach when a laptop connected to an Electrocardiogram (ECG) machine went missing from its facility. The incident was reported to the California Office of the Attorney General on March 9, 2015. The missing laptop contained unencrypted patient data, including names and dates of birth, potentially exposing the personal information of approximately 2,700 individuals.While the organization implemented additional security measures to prevent future breaches—such as enhanced encryption protocols and stricter device monitoring—the incident raised concerns about the protection of sensitive patient records.
