JEINA, a name inspired by the Kurdish word ژینا meaning ‘life/life-giver’ is a program designed by a team of women at UNSW Sydney with lived experience of forced migration. JEINA is building an equitable future for women from forced migration background through higher education and professional development. JEINA defines ‘forcibly displaced’ as any individual who has been compelled to leave their homeland due to factors outside their control such as conflict, persecution, political instability, human rights violations, or environmental disasters. This includes refugees, asylum seekers, political exiles, and others who can demonstrate the impact of forced displacement on themselves or their families. Our definition is grounded in lived
