The Helper Bees Data Breach Exposes Sensitive Personal and Health Information The Helper Bees Inc., an Austin, Texas-based insurtech company specializing in aging-in-place services, recently disclosed a data breach that compromised sensitive personal, financial, and health information. Founded in 2015, the company partners with major insurance carriers to provide non-medical in-home care services, including meal delivery, transportation, and home modifications, while its subsidiary, Dimensions Inc., supports New York Life’s long-term care insurance claims. The breach occurred when an unauthorized party accessed an email mailbox containing protected data between June 16 and July 8, 2026. Upon discovery, The Helper Bees conducted a review, confirming no additional unauthorized forwarding of sensitive information from other accounts. The exposed data included personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI), such as names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial account details, Medicare numbers, and medical records. The incident was reported to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on August 20, 2026. In response, The Helper Bees is offering 18 months of complimentary credit monitoring to affected individuals, with enrollment available via phone or email. The company has also established dedicated support channels for inquiries, including a customer service line and compliance hotline.
