Padget Technologies Discloses Data Breach Impacting Employee Personal Information Padget Technologies Inc., an industrial automation firm based in Cedar Falls, Iowa, confirmed a data breach exposing sensitive personal information of current and former employees. The incident was detected on June 4, 2026, when the company identified suspicious activity within its systems. An external cybersecurity investigation later determined that an unauthorized actor accessed and exfiltrated files from Padget’s networks on the same day. Before Padget completed its internal review, the Akira ransomware group claimed responsibility on June 25, 2026, via a post on the Tor network. The group asserted it had stolen a wide range of data, including driver’s licenses, Social Security numbers, W-9 forms, payment details, NDAs, contracts, and client information. However, Padget’s investigation confirmed only names and Social Security numbers were present in the compromised files. The breach was reported to the Nebraska Attorney General, and affected individuals began receiving notifications on July 23, 2026. In response, Padget is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through IDX, with enrollment available until October 23, 2026. The company has also provided a dedicated assistance line and mailing address for affected parties.
