Newcastle City Council suffered from a data breach incident after they mistakenly added to a party invitation that exposed 2,743 children and their adoptive parents information. It was accidentally attached as a spreadsheet to an invitation to the organisation's summer celebration. The spreadsheet included personal information like names, addresses and the birthdates of the adopted children. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) investigated the incident and the power to levy a fine of up to £500,000.
