It is unclear as to what extent the data has been exposed as the investigation is ongoing. However, the core network, billing systems, and financial services infrastructure are confirmed secure. MTN has informed the appropriate authorities and is taking steps to notify affected customers. It is currently unclear if this was a targeted attack by ransomware actors.
