Managed Care of North America (MCNA) Dental suffered from a data breach incident that impacted 8,923,662 patients. The exposed information includes such as full name, date of birth, address, telephone, and email; Social Security number; driver’s license number or government-issued identification number; health insurance information, such as the name of plan/insurer/government payor, member/Medicaid/Medicare ID number, plan and/or group number; and information regarding dental/orthodontic care. The notice states that not all data elements were involved for all individuals. MCNA took immediate steps to contain the threat and engaged a third-party forensic firm to investigate the incident and assist with remediation efforts. The company is offering the impacted individuals 12 months of free identity theft protection and credit monitoring service through IDX.

The Vermont Office of the Attorney General reported a data breach involving Managed Care of North America (MCNA) on May 26, 2023. The breach occurred between February 26, 2023, and March 7, 2023, when a cybercriminal accessed the computer system and potentially exposed personal information, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, and health insurance details of individuals. The number of affected individuals is currently unknown.

Another vendor, MCNA Dental, informed Florida Healthy Kids that they had experienced a cyberattack. 8.9 million members were impacted by that incident, according to MCNA Dental's submission to HHS. It was discovered on two different threat actors' leak sites where information has subsequently been exposed after MCNA Dental ostensibly declined to pay the demanded ransom.
