L’Artisan Parfumeur was born as the result of a challenge, a plaisanterie. Due to his training as a chemist, a friend asked Jean Laporte if he could create a banana scent to wear with a costume of the same fruit to a gala evening at the Folies Bergères. This sparked a passion in him to experiment and create original, artisanal scents with "natural essences". Banana was quickly followed by grapefruit and vanilla fragrances.
