Kovack Financial LLC Discloses Data Breach Affecting Over 1,900 Individuals Kovack Financial LLC, a financial services firm based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has reported a data breach that exposed sensitive personal and financial information. Between August 8 and August 27, 2025, an unauthorized actor accessed files on the company’s network. Kovack Financial detected suspicious activity on August 28, 2025, and immediately secured its systems while launching an investigation. The review, completed on July 16, 2026, confirmed that the breach potentially compromised data belonging to 1,713 Massachusetts residents and 243 Vermont residents. Exposed information included Social Security numbers, driver’s licenses, government IDs, credit and debit account details, and financial account codes. Kovack Financial disclosed the breach to attorneys general in California, Massachusetts, and Vermont on August 10, 2026. In response, the company is offering affected individuals complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion subsidiary. Enrollment requires a unique code from the notification letter and must be completed within 90 days. A dedicated call center (833-954-3690) has also been established for inquiries.

The Vermont Office of the Attorney General reported a data breach involving Kovack Financial on July 9, 2024. The incident involved unauthorized access to email accounts between approximately August 15, 2023, and September 5, 2023, potentially affecting personal information such as full names, although the specific number of individuals affected remains unknown.
