The breach was part of a broader attack on Blackbaud, a cloud computing provider serving nonprofits, healthcare, and educational institutions. While Blackbaud claimed to have contained the attack and prevented further data exfiltration, the exposed information posed risks of identity theft, financial fraud, and unauthorized transactions for the affected individuals. HopeHealth notified the impacted parties on or around September 24, 2020, nearly four months after the initial incident.
