Gulf Coast State College administrators wrote a letter dated September 28 informing some students and staff members of a data breach that occurred between March 31 and June 3, 2020. Officials were informed, according to the letter, that multiple employees' email accounts had been hacked. Additionally, it claims that although the school conducted its own investigation, authorities were unable to determine whether the hacker ever had access to any email contents. They claim to have personally gone over the contents to look for any information that might have been obtained. Officials said that they actually don't know for sure if any personal information was obtained, but they nonetheless advise all impacted students and staff to be alert.
