Guilford Technical Community College was hit by ransomware in September 2020 and had to cancel its online as well as in-person classes. The attack compromised the detailed personal identification of more than 43,000 students which was then leaked on the dark web. The GTCC notified potential victims of the attack and offered two years of free credit monitoring and ID restoration services to them.
