Boxes were misplaced at Florida Hospital while moving boxes of patient files from one storage vendor, access, to another one of storage vendors. The boxes contained files for an unknown number of patients from seven different locations. Florida Hospital notified government and regulatory organizations about the situation and took the steps against the potential damage, including providing one year of identity theft protection at no cost for impacted patients.

Two former Florida Hospital employees stole and sold an unknown number of patient records. At least 9,000 patients were affected by a data breach. Two specialists were hired to release patients' personal information for medical and business needs are accused of stealing and selling that information. Both suspects left their jobs in May 2014. Two unidentified employees printed portions of medical records of at least 9,000 patients during those same two years. The suit claims a girl's records and her parents' insurance records were stolen after they visited Florida Hospital Apopka's previous building and Florida Hospital Altamonte.
