Events D.C., the District’s convention and sports authority, was the victim of a recent cyberattack across its network. It have compromised sensitive employee and customer data. The hackers used BlackCat software, a ransomware also known as “ALPHV." That ransomware has been utilized to attack companies through gaining access to encrypted files and stolen file disclosure. Events D.C. employs more than 400 across the organization, and its an assumption that potentially everyone's personal data has been compromised.

The Maine Office of the Attorney General reported a data breach involving Events DC on May 15, 2023. The breach, discovered on September 29, 2022, resulted from an external hacking incident potentially compromising the Social Security numbers of 1,449 individuals, including one resident of Maine. Identity theft protection services were offered for a duration of 24 months through Experian IdentityWorks.
