A significant disruption has occurred in the Caritas Association's IT systems for the Rhein-Erft district. As far as is known, the background is a cyberattack on the association's computer systems. Despite rigorous technical and organisational security measures, criminal intruders were able to access Caritas' server infrastructure. Analysis is currently being done to determine the true scope of the attack and the degree of the damage. Additional systems might also need to be turned off as part of the examination.
