Hackers stole cryptocurrency valued at 35 billion won ($31.6 million), according to South Korean exchange Bithumb. In reaction to the event, the exchange stopped user withdrawals, temporarily halted deposits, and transferred all money to cold wallets. As of this writing, Bithumb has declared that it will reimburse losses but has not provided any information regarding the security incident. Experts contended that the total amount of money taken at the time was higher than first believed.

From the accounts of multiple customers of the South Jordan exchange, the hackers have taken over $1 million in cryptocurrency. This past week, thieves gained access to several user accounts and stole valuable currency through cyberattacks. Hackers reportedly took almost 10 million won's worth of bitcoins from a single account, according to the local newspaper Kyunghyang. As per a victim survey, hundreds of millions of Korean Won have been pilfered from the accounts of one hundred users, making an exact estimation of the total losses almost impossible.
