Selected through open calls, artist advisory board input, and a strong curatorial vision, our exhibitions prioritize diversity, inclusivity, and civic engagement, amplifying marginalized voices and encouraging community dialogue. Our Awards program highlights and archives often-overlooked Contemporary Texas art history. The Art League School provides adults with lifelong learning opportunities in a variety of mediums, including painting, ceramics, jewelry, and more. Established in 1968, the school serves over 1,200 students annually through studio art classes and workshops led by professional artists. Small class sizes and a range of experience levels ensure personalized attention. In 2022, ALH launched the Flexible Access initiative, offering pay-what-you-can rates to increase access to arts education. ALH's Community Engagement programs focus on artist-led projects that address critical social issues. Key initiatives include ArtBound! for K–12 schools, Summer Intensive for Teens, Healing Art for adults with chronic illnesses and disabilities, and Creative Healing for hospital staff. These programs reflect our commitment to making art accessible to all and enhancing Houston’s cultural fabric.
