An unauthorized party accessed the computer networks of AdviceOne, LLC and breached the sensitive consumer information contained therein. The breached information included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, bank account information, and usernames and passwords of about 7,008 individuals. AdviceOne sent out data breach letters to all individuals whose information was compromised after investigating the incident.

On May 25, 2022, AdviceOne, LLC disclosed a data breach resulting from a hacking incident that commenced on February 23, 2022, and was detected on April 26, 2022. The breach exposed sensitive personal and financial information of approximately 7,008 individuals, including 48 Maine residents. Compromised data included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account details, usernames, and passwords—highly sensitive information that significantly elevates risks of identity theft, financial fraud, and unauthorized account access. In response, AdviceOne offered 24 months of credit monitoring via Experian to affected individuals, acknowledging the severe potential consequences of the exposure. The breach’s scope—targeting core identifiers and financial credentials—suggests a high-risk scenario for victims, with long-term repercussions for personal security and trust in the organization. The delayed discovery (over two months) further exacerbates the severity, as the attackers had prolonged access to critical systems.
