Founded in 2007 , the West African Institute of Public Health (WAIPH) is the leading innovation-driven nonstate regional public health development organization based in Nigeria. It works with strong multidisciplinary approach towards building human capacity, professional standards, improving enabling environment and the larger health system. The key pillars of the Institute’s interventions are strengthening the enabling environment through evidence-driven policy-shaping, advocacy , research, capacity development, standards, certifications and public health programme implementation. It serves as the Charter of Public Health Holder for the region, to provide the strategic approaches by public health can be evolved to meet the new public health order. The flagship arm of the Institute is the Academy of Public Health (APH) which is the membership based body of professionals.
