Martha's Vineyard Playhouse
Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse is a professional non-profit working theater dedicated to inspiring, enriching and entertaining our diverse island community. The Playhouse operates year-round, presenting a wide selection of contemporary, classic and original plays; developing new work through staged readings, professional workshops and world premieres; producing an annual family holiday show; and many special events and productions on our intimate mainstage in our historic theater in downtown Vineyard Haven. We also offer innovative educational programs for children and adults. Each summer, outdoors in the Tisbury Amphitheater, we present vibrant Shakespeare and highly imaginative shows for children. We are dedicated to the collaboration among professional and local theater artists and look forward to many more years of contributing to and sharing in the rich cultural resources of our unique island. Our vision: We are working toward a future where we can provide innovative theater programming for all ages with a fully staffed, financially sustainable organization; with state of the art facilities that are safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly for our audiences, actors, stage managers, and all others; and adequate off-premise storage, scenic and costume shops, and rehearsal space. We envision a time when we will be able to house actors easily and expand our program to provide residencies for playwrights. We look forward to a time when our reputation as an ground-breaking professional theater is recognized on and off the Vineyard.
