The Satori Group was founded in 2007 by a group of graduates from Williams College and UC’s College Conservatory of Music (CCM). The company has been based in Seattle since 2008. Satori consists of eight core company members (including seven founding members) and a continually expanding group of associate artists. The Satori Group collaboratively generates new work aimed at exploring the audience experience with curiosity, commitment, and consideration to the world of each piece. We have built a culture in which dialogue, respect, and ensemble training are key; where we ask questions and empower each other to say yes and ask how. Satori has cultivated a diverse and adventurous audience excited by getting close to the process of creating new work and hungry for the product. The Satori Lab is intended as a space to support the exploration between initial idea and first rehearsal in a full and accessible way, both for the group and for the community.
