Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, Mississippi’s first children’s museum, is a hands-on discovery center for children, their families and teachers. With exhibits and programs designed to teach as well as entertain, visitors experience the Mississippi of yesterday as well as today. The museum is a private not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) designated organization. In April 2016, Lynn Meadows Discovery Center was awarded the highest honor a museum can receive- the National Medal for Museum and Library Service. This award, presented by the First Lady of the United States, is given as a tribute to the organization’s ability to make a difference in the lives of children, families and communities through extraordinary and innovative approaches to public service, exceeding the expected levels of community outreach. LMDC was one out of only 10 recipients throughout the nation. The mission of Lynn Meadows Discovery Center is to inspire children, families and communities through the arts, interactive educational experiences and explorations.

Description

ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. Prior to 7.1.2-9 and 6.9.13-34, there is a vulnerability in ImageMagick’s Magick++ layer that manifests when Options::fontFamily is invoked with an empty string. Clearing a font family calls RelinquishMagickMemory on _drawInfo->font, freeing the font string but leaving _drawInfo->font pointing to freed memory while _drawInfo->family is set to that (now-invalid) pointer. Any later cleanup or reuse of _drawInfo->font re-frees or dereferences dangling memory. DestroyDrawInfo and other setters (Options::font, Image::font) assume _drawInfo->font remains valid, so destruction or subsequent updates trigger crashes or heap corruption. This vulnerability is fixed in 7.1.2-9 and 6.9.13-34.
