Last Update: 2025-12-12

The Electric Lodge — being at the convergence of artistic and environmental awareness — is a sanctuary, a place where artists and environmentalists originate, gestate, develop and present performance and ideas. It is an outlet for the community; plugging in to the current of the times by providing a wide array of seminars, salons and classes from the martial arts to the dramatic arts, from Mommy & Me to Swing Brazil. Through our Arts Earth Partnership and other programs we become a nexus for a network of environmentally friendly cultural facilities, performing arts companies and individual artists in Los Angeles and across the country, uniquely manifesting our identity as the place where artistic and environmental ideas are presented and explored. We subsidize our community of artists and thinkers through a generous program managed by the Board of Directors at the discretion of the Artistic Director. This program allows for co-productions at substantially reduced rates for artists and organizations that may not otherwise have the resources to bring their ideas to life. If interested in submitting a proposal for a rental or co-production please contact us.

Developing Artists Theater Company

Developing Artists is a nonprofit dedicated to providing opportunities for under-served teens to reach their full potential through a practical application of the performing arts and to relentlessly fight for positive social change. Our core programs are our year-round classes in theatre technique and the youth arts festival REBEL VERSES. Our goal is to provide young people with professional performing arts training that will equip them with valuable artistic and life skills. Developing Artists mitigates the disparities in access to high-quality arts education across the New York metropolitan area by providing high school students (aged 13-19) from marginalized and under-served communities the opportunity for study of the performing arts at the highest level. Students come from all five boroughs of New York, and from New Jersey; 35% identify as Latinx, 40% as African American, 20% as Caucasian, and 5% as Asian/other. The company’s core commitment is to young people most in need. Our students have often faced socio-economic challenges; many have experienced physical, sexual or emotional abuse. We take these young artists seriously so their voices can be heard.
