The Chorale is a multi-generational chorus composed of members from Virginia, D.C., and Maryland. Singers come from a diverse range of professions and musical backgrounds, and members form strong connections with each other through musical rehearsals and fun social events. Performing a varied repertoire of smaller pieces and larger works for chorus and orchestra, some recent works include the Brahms Requiem, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Gjeilo’s “Song of the Universal,” and Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass. For many seasons, the Chorale was honored to be part of the onstage chorus for the Messiah Sing-a-long at the Kennedy Center. Established in 1966, they have a long history of performing in special events, such as singing the national anthem at the MLB All-Star Game at Nationals Park, performing for the 40th anniversary of Arlington Thrive, and caroling at the Lee Highway Alliance Winter Festival of Lights. The Chorale also sponsors a youth outreach group called Performers with Purpose (PWP) that connects young singers ages 10-18 to other non-profits in the community, focusing on service through choral music. Building on over fifty years of choral art, the Chorale continues to present ambitious programming, rehearsing and performing primarily in Arlington. Choral singing builds community, providing a space for members to work toward a common artistic goal as they create, connect, and sing together.
