Mongui Maduro Museum & Library: Mongui Maduro Library is housed in a state of the art building where its valuable collection is preserved under ideal circumstances. The library building offers a quiet study environment for local and international researchers. The focus points of the Library collection are: 1. The origins and development of the Sephardic Jewish community of Curaçao and its connections with the wider Sephardic Jewish community in the Western hemisphere. 2. Social and cultural aspects of the development of Curacao in the past and the present. The type of documents in the collection range from publications of major historical importance to day to day items like theatre programs, invitation cards, menus and newspaper clippings. Mongui Maduro Museum is located in former plantation house Rooi Catootje (1735), adjacent to Mongui Maduro Library. The museum tells the story of 4 generations of Sephardic Jewish family the Levy Maduro's, owners of Landhuis Rooi Catootje since S.E. Levy Maduro acquired the estate in 1853 as a surprise gift for his younger wife Rebecca Curiel......
