Reality Aside Theatre
History Reality Aside Theatre began production in February 2007. We incorporated as a New York State not-for-profit in July 2007. As of August 2009 we are a 501(c)(3) corporation. Mission Our aims are twofold: 1) to produce theatre that entertains and challenges general audiences; 2) to use theatre for educational purposes. 1) We produce works that challenge audiences to question and often directly participate in what they’re experiencing, including pieces by new playwrights. Plays engage brains, explore dark humor and satire, and often include improvisation. 2) We use the stage as a teaching tool, to pique audiences' curiosity about their world. Current themes include science and health, which we explore in interactive and scripted formats. In addition to the general public, we work with groups including children, students, and the physically disabled.
