The Orange Tree (OT) is an award-winning, independent theatre. Recognised as a powerhouse that creates high-quality productions of new and rediscovered plays, we entertain 70,000 people across the UK every year. The OT’s home in Richmond, South West London, is an intimate theatre with the audience seated all around the stage: watching a performance here is truly a unique experience. We believe in the power of dramatic stories to entertain, thrill and challenge us; plays that enrich our lives by enhancing our understanding of ourselves and each other. As a registered charity (266128) sitting at the heart of its community, we work with 10,000 people in Richmond and beyond through participatory theatre projects for people of all ages and abilities. Horse Head Theatre Co. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization based in Houston, Texas. The company's mission is to re-energize Houston audiences and artists with theatrically designed experiences using local talent and non-traditional methods. Imagine...going to the theatre and encountering an audience with as much passion, aliveness, and emotion as you find at a major sporting event. The Horse Head Theatre Company believes this is the type of crowd that should be inherent in the theatre. We are a company dedicated to a new approach in creating the art of theatre, and in doing so, forming a type of theatre that currently does not exist. In conceiving this attitude, we are not interested in evaluating or comparing our theatrical practices to those of any theatre past or present. Our approach to generating this form of theatre is to look at the production as an organic whole, and to continually evolve a new way of looking at theatre by learning, not how things are being done, but how they might be done. Imagine...a theatrical experience beyond the artistic realm of entertainment . . . where the reenergizing capacity of the ancient Greek theatre at Epidaurus is brought back to life in a new theatre relevant to contemporary culture. The Horse Head Theatre Company productions will offer an artistic experience that facilitates this recharging in all participants (audience, actors, designers, etc.). Imagine...a group of artists doing regional premiers and incorporating local talent to produce it . . . exclusively. We will not be producing any piece of theatre that has ever been done in our region. Our company firmly believes that the artistic pool we have to pull from in Houston is more than ample, and that talent is not dictated by a zip code. Imagine... “creating a theatre that to this point only exists in dreams.” – Robert Edmond Jones
