Oddfellows Playhouse was founded in 1975 by Wesleyan students with the desire to engage the community through performance based arts. Oddfellows is Connecticut's oldest and largest youth theater program and is also a not-for-profit 501(c)(3). Oddfellows Playhouse builds essential skills for life through the theatrical arts. The Playhouse annually serves over 1,200 young people, ranging from ages 3-20, representing 31 towns throughout central Connecticut. Oddfellows owns it own 10,000 sq. ft., 3-story historic building. This building houses a flexible theater space with professionally equipped light and sound booth, classroom and rehearsal spaces, technical shop, lobby/gallery space, and administrative offices. The New England Theatre Conference recognized the Playhouse’s history of quality performing arts and youth education with an Award of Excellence in 1998. In 1999, the Playhouse received a Community Service Award from the Middlesex County NAACP in recognition of its years of commitment to young people, particularly those challenged by poverty. In 2003, Citizens Bank named Oddfellows Playhouse its Community Champion for youth services.

Make Believe was established by Joel Kern in 2004 and began with just five children. We have since grown the brand across a variety of platforms both on and offline. We currently have 3500 students attending our classes weekly with the aim to build on their confidence and self-esteem whilst teaching skills for life. With an international presence in both the UK and Australia we are proud to have a full-service creative hub delivering capabilities across a whole variety of areas including; production, talent management and events. We have produced shows at The O2, Elstree Studios and the Novello Theatre whilst taking our talent platform ‘One Dream’ to Israel in line with Eurovision. Our clients include; Intu Shopping Centres to Saatchi & Saatchi, Haribo, Nike, Samsung and Coca-Cola. Students have gone on to star in Pricilla Queen of the Desert, A Dolls House, On Your Feet, The King & I, Lord of the Flies and Thriller Live. We manage educational programmes for our partners throughout China welcoming students annually from Beijing, Chengdu, Shenzhen and Shanghai. Since our establishment I am proud to have welcomed 25000+ young people to be a part of the Make Believe journey.
