GASP! Theatre Company
GASP! Theatre Company aims to entertain audiences through comedic performances by an all-female cast. Founded in 2015 by Georgina Stafford, Alexandra Saunders-Yates, Sophie Kronenberg and Philippa Holmes, GASP! has developed through devising and writing theatre simultaneously, whilst also addressing subtle feminist messages through comedy. Audiences are exposed to these issues in a light hearted, relatable way, suitable for all. Influences for GASP! include Rudolf Laban, Bertolt Brecht, Commedia Dell’Arte and sketch show comedies such as Fawlty Towers and Smack the Pony. This work has greatly impacted on our performances and has resulted in them having a heightened playing style, for example a cast which often multi-role as various exaggerations of stereotypes, that also have an absurd edge to them. GASP! Theatre Company was founded at The University of Kent, and is now based in Canterbury at The School of Arts, at The University of Kent.
