The nationally acclaimed theatre company of older adults based in Oakland, California celebrates its 30th season as the nation's oldest senior theatre company. Since 1978, the company's mission has been to narrow the gap between the generations and to present positive images of older adults through the medium of theatre arts classes, workshops, healthy aging programs and public performances. The actors range in age from 50-90+ years. The non-profit, intergenerational company has performed over 30 original plays for more than 300,000 people in senior centers, hospitals, schools, clubs and theatres. A pioneer in the field of healthy aging, Stagebridge created the award winning Healthy Aging Program called “See Me!” to train medical professionals to see older adults as people. The company’s Performing Arts Training Institute is the 2009 winner of the prestigious MetLife Mind Alert Award. Stagebridge is also the only West Coast representative of the innovative TimeSlips ™ a creative storytelling method that helps people with dementia. Another first is our summer Performing Arts Camp for adults 50+. Stagebridge has been featured on ABC-TV, CNN, National Public Radio, in Modern Maturity, Oakland Magazine, Storytelling Magazine and at national and regional conferences. Stagebridge offers: • Entertainment, key note speakers, workshops and staff training – topics crafted to event theme and audience interest – interactive always an option; • Programs developed with health care providers, school districts, senior centers, libraries and community and corporate agencies; • Classes and workshops in acting, comedy, dance, improvisation, storytelling, performance, playwriting and voice brought to your location; • Volunteer opportunities for seniors: school storytelling residencies, performance, community outreach and production support; • Performing Arts Camp for Adults 50+ – July 19-23, 2010 – it’s never too late to have fun.
