Last Update: 2025-12-10

Absolute Theatre exists to hone the art and craft of theatre and to present works, new and old, that entertain, challenge, and inspire our audiences…and ourselves. Brought together by a common desire to create and share theatre which transcends expectations, we formed in the Spring of 2016. The definition of the word absolute guides our work: "existing independently, not qualified or diminished in any way; total, pure." Past Shows include: Frost/Nixon, September 2016 High Spirits Murder Mystery, October 2016 Dead Man's Cell Phone, November 2016 The Amish Project, February 2017 Sealed With A Deadly Kiss, February 2017 The Duck Variations, April 2017 Savannah Style or Death With A Knife Pleat, June 2017 Three Viewings, July 2017 Blithe Spirit, October 2017 Mayhem and Murder at Manchester Manor, December 2017 The Robber Bridegroom, January 2018 Sex With Strangers, April 2018 An Iliad, May/June 2018 Radio Gals, October 2018 Blood Brothers, January 2019 A Doll's House, Part 2, March 2019 Love, Loss & What I Wore, April/May 2019 The Honky Tonk Angels, September 2019 A Year with Frog and Toad, January 2020 Murder on the Orient Express, March 2020 Absolute Theatre's Suzie Hansen also writes casts, and directs murder mysteries to be performed at various locations for either corporations or nonprofits. Often fundraisers, these murder mysteries have raised more than $100,000 for area non-profit organizations. In June 2017, we performed the original murder mystery, Savannah in Style or Death With A Knife Pleat for the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester. Jessica Sund, Operations Assistant for the group wrote: [Absolute Theatre's Murder Mystery was] "a record breaking Auction Package that raised $11,700 for Rochester’s youth who need us the most. I am without words for all of your generosity and creativity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart on behalf of Boys & Girls Club of Rochester, and all the amazing kids we serve! Well done, and Congratulations!"
