Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC), the resident theater company of Chautauqua Institution, produces high-quality, live theater during Chautauqua’s nine-week Summer Assembly. Under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Jade King Carroll, CTC is dedicated to becoming a national home for exciting new plays: commissioning, developing and producing new and established American playwrights, including the development of Noah Haidle’s Birthday Candles, which went on to premiere on Broadway starring Debra Messing at Roundabout Theatre Company. Productions and workshops in the 2023 season included works by Kate Hamill, Chisa Hutchinson, Sofya Levitsky-Weitz, Mike Lew, and Harrison David Rivers.
