Three founding members, saw the need to establish a forum for the education and expression of Dance and Drum in the Houston Metropolitan Area and joined to form "JLS" in July of 2009. Their dream was to coordinate events that would attract the finest and best Master Instructors and Artists to the Houston, TX area. For some, these events strengthen their sense of cultural identity; they offer a look at the rich traditions and heritage. For others it provides an alternative for an energetic and fun way to workout, increasing their cardio, flexibility and total body articulation. One of their goals is to help preserve and share the culture and traditions of dance, sharing the joy far beyond the native tribes and keeping the history alive.
