The Boston Symphony Orchestra gave its inaugural concert in 1881, realizing the dream of its founder, the Civil War veteran/businessman/philanthropist Henry Lee Higginson, who envisioned a great and permanent orchestra in his hometown of Boston. The San Diego Children’s Choir (SDCC) is the area's oldest and largest youth choral program. Known for the exceptional quality of its music education, participation in the choir increases confidence, discipline and a love of music by providing children with local, national and international performance opportunities. SDCC serves more than 1,500 children in six ensembles, an early childhood program, and a school outreach program.
